I respect and admire the authors of this book so much. However, I was expecting this book to fill me would hope and faith that people can fully recover from porn addictions and have bigger, better, stronger, healthier marriages and relationships than ever before......But I found this book just to be about other people's horror stories and it just made me fearful of how bad things can really get.I appreciate the honesty of the stories. But I wish there was at least one page for each story showing the couples success and how they're thriving now. Some of the couples in the book were currently still in recovery. I was expecting more testimonies of how happy and free they are now, but thats not exactly what I got. I read the whole book in one sitting. It's a good and easy read, but it also made me very so sad and angry to read some of these stories.If you're a woman or a wife that wants to know that there are other real people that have gone through the trauma and tragedies that you have to not feel so alone....then this may be a good book for you! But if you're already a woman suffering emotionally, this book may trigger bad thoughts and memories. If you're looking for "happy endings" and "triumphant testimonies" this may not be a the best book for you :(
Wonderful stories of the suffering that porn addiction brings into the lives of individuals and how it can devastate the partner as well. Thank God each of these stories also reveals the hope that comes from working through the addiction to freedom and a strengthened relationship with God and deepened appreciation for one another. Highly recommend to anyone who may be suffering from this situation.
These stories have served as an encouragement for me. They are honest, raw, real, and hopeful. Porn is devestating to a marriage, but it doesn't need to destroy a marriage. These stories tell just that - how these couples grew and we're strengthened through their suffering.
Porn has never been a problem in my life, but I know it to be a huge problem in our society. I read this book to learn how it affects men and women and was surprised to learn how I could begin to heal from abuse (physical, emotional and mental). I know I have a lot of work, and it's different than what these women suffered, but th ed principals are much the same. So glad I read it.
Gives hope to those in a marriage where sexual addiction is present. By God's grace and love those effected by hurt and betrayal are able to forgive again and again. I would have given this 5 stars except for one of the stories that was very disturbing. One couple was impacted by the husband's downloading child pornography. This man, and educator and father himself ended up in prison and having to register as a convicted sex offender. His wife sticks by him and even after his release from prison, he returns again to pornography. I could not understand why this wife would put her children in possible danger by staying with this man. Sometimes letting go is the best option to protect those that could be victimized. The other stories were encouraging and do give hope by having a relationship with God.
Great book. Positive stories from families that have experienced pain and trauma from family member's addictions. Makes you realize that you aren't alone in this struggle.
This book was exactly what I needed. It provided insight and comfort. And, it helped me to find healing and hope when I was experiencing my deepest pain. I am so grateful for this book.
These are just stories that need to be told so we can understand both the sickness, the damage and the redemption that is available.
