I read this book 51 years ago when I was just out of college and into my career. It helped me understand and articulate why I was a conservative. The only thing I disagreed with the author on was that she was an atheist. I certainly don't think you have to be an atheist to be a conservative. I felt that it was time to now reread the book again. It is loaded on my Kindle and ready to go when I work my way to it.

This book provides a brief summary of Rand's philosophy using her fiction novels to illustrate key points. However, I would not recommend this book as the starting point for those who wish to study objectivism. You must read her fiction works such as The Fountainhead, We The Living, Anthem, and Rand's masterpiece, Atlas Shrugged in order to grasp her basic precepts. Then move onto her non-fiction offerings such as Philosophy: Who Needs It?; The Virtue of Selfishness; and Capitalism: The Unknown Ideal. While this book is fantastic, think of it as a "Cliff's Notes" version of objectivism.

Excellent summary of her foundational philosophies as she established them in in various writing. Rand is probably the least understood, most mis-catagorized philosopher ever. She variously been call a nazi, socialist, and capitalist - proof that most people haven't actually read her books. This is a great starting point if you want to read and decide for yourself, as I did. Dare you to find where her reason and logic is faulty.

In today's political climate this is an especially interesting book to read. It regards the problem of morality and what is considered moral, and whether it should be. Ayn is definitely in favor of capitalism and individualism.

A great book to introduce or develop Ayn's ideas. It features an overview intro essay along with passages from her fiction. All of it's forceful - as is typical of Ayn - raising issues that have a key bearing on our lives both as individuals and in society. It does contain some of the biting language that's an element of caricatures of her, but her ideas go beyond this. She's accessible, clear, powerful and as relevant today as when this book first came out in the 1960s.

Forty years ago I read most of Atlas Shrugged , but skipped over Galts speech. I was more interested in the story line than her philosophical ramblings. But I did plan to get back to it. Still didn’t like it. At least now I’m done.

Superb analysis as always from Ms. Rand. She was WAY ahead of any other philosopher in the centuries before her or since. It's easy to see why so many people who are truly willing to hear her ideas and use scientific methods of thinking have embraced her Objectivist system. Objectivists may yet save Liberty for all of us from the uninformed masses who seem hell-bent on reckless statist policies.

I love Ayn Rand. This book is basically a reprint of Galts speech and other excerpts from Atlas Shrugged and Fountainhead. Just read those books.

There is nothing outstanding about this book, but more the poem within it. Poe was a poetic genius. This book is good in the sense that nothing distracts you from the poem. It allows the reader to be captivated by the poems beauty instead of a pretty cover.

Decode and Conquer is no doubt a must read for anyone who wants to be a Product Manager. It gives a plethora of different example PM interview questions like "Design a new iPad app for Google Spreadsheet" complete with extremely strong example answers. This book is much stronger than Cracking the PM Interview in that regard.Lin also does a great job teaching something called the CIRCLES framework which helps prospective PMs think more clearly and compose well-structured, logical responses to the sort of questions they will get asked in PM interviews. As someone who conducts PM interviews at a FANG company though, please be warned that if you are using the framework too closely, you will come off as robotic-almost as if you had been told the question beforehand and were reciting a memorized answer. That is not what the interviewer is looking for. Use frameworks as a reference point to make sure you aren't forgetting anything but do NOT use them verbatim. You want to give organized responses to questions that seem to be coming organically as that is what you will need to do everyday on the job.Overall, this book is very strong. The only reason I am giving it four stars is because it seems to downplay open ended strategy questions. Sure, Lin touches on this with things like "You're the CEO of the Yellow Cab taxi service. How do you respond to Uber?" however this book doesn't give you industry insight in the strategy's of the top tech companies or how their products work at a high level for less technical PMs.For that reason, I think Decode and Conquer is one of two must reads for getting PM offers. The other book is called Swipe to Unlock. This book provides considerable insight on the tech and business strategy side to enable you to have the context you need to understand the full implications of what you may be asked. It covers things like why does Google let Yelp & Uber (which are competitors to Google reviews and Waymo) use Google maps or why does Facebook let other apps which are competing for precious user time spent to log in with Facebook credentials instead of making them create their own logins which would cause more friction and probably result in more people using other non-core apps less overall and just defaulting to using Facebook more. It also gives a high level overview of how core tech like search algorithms or machine learning actually work under the hood which may be helpful if you are a PM without a strong computer science education.Between Decode and Conquer and Swipe to Unlock, you should have everything you need to ace PM interview.

A very helpful book introducing the framework you should use to guide yourself through product interviews as well as daily product decision making process. There are plenty examples you can walk through to learn how you should structure your responses, although some examples are not as great (author provides example of a "bad" responses but didn't provide an example of how a "good" response should look like).I have interviewed with Google for the PM position twice before, but I didn't pass the phone round for either time. This time, with the framework provided on this book, I passed the phone interview and was invited to on-site! Can't wait to apply the knowledge I learned from this book to the on-site in a few days.

This book begins by teaching the reader a process to approach hypothetical design questions. Then the rest of the book provides example questions and answers that don't really follow the process they taught or don't follow the order of the framework. Then at one point the book actually says don't follow the process exactly because your response sounds scripted. Then what is the point of this book? Why not skip the book's framework altogether and work backward from customer needs.

I've never seen a book quite like this that focuses so much on answering a wide variety of interview questions. I applaud the author for taking so much time to record so many answers and give little critiques of the answer positives and negatives at the end. The primary strength of this book is the structure the author provides to presenting your interview in a logical, easy to understand way. By doing this over and over again, the reader really starts to "get" how important and easy it can be to start with structure. However, I found the actual answer quality uneven. I've spent 1 year as a PM hiring manager and been involved in interviewing PMs for 4 years and there were a few cases where the "candidate" gave answers that I'd give a thumbs down to that the author claimed were great answers. But I should also caveat there there are a couple great answers as well.I also read Cracking the PM interview and would recommend that book over this one. Crack the PM interview is more of an overview with only a few answers to PM interview questions but higher quality. I think an issue for me was that I love Solving Product Design Exercises. That book approaches design questions in a similar way providing a framework with real questions and answers. But the answers in that book are all extraordinary so the bar I was expecting for this book was not met.

I just got a dream job offer from a startup in Silicon Valley that I had been targeting for a while. Lewis' book and his coaching made this happen.My key challenge was that I wasn't structured in my answers, and my answers were too long. The book helped me get more structured. The coaching helped me learn how to hold interviewer's attention by crafting narratives and keeping answers to the right length with just the right amount of details.The preparation doesn't change who I am or my PM skills, but Lewis helped me put my best foot forward. I felt that I was clearly able to demonstrate a) how I would work with them b) how I would make a great product.Thank you so much Lewis! Thanks to you, for the the first time I had a good grasp of what the companies are looking for and how to demonstrate credibility. You have done a terrific job for the Product Management community, and I owe this big win to you.
