I have purchased several of the Missing Manual books in the past as the Elements program has been upgraded and improved. In the past I have always read and used this the book as a reference to find out "how-to-do" ideas with which I was not familiar. When Photoshop Elements 13 was released, I really excited about the many changes that had been made in the program that I had not spent much time with even in version 12. I bought the Elements 13 Missing Manual knowing that it would be a good "reference" book. In the meantime, I had also decided to take a more serious attitude with my photography and get down to business. When I purchased the Missing Manual for Elements 13, I approached the book knowing that there would be good information even though I had not spent much time with the program itself. When I began reviewing the book to find out what was in the program, I really became excited because the Table of Contents and the Index are the first parts I look for in any technical book. These two parts of the book were listing all of the functions I had ever wanted in a photo editor. I had tried to learn Photoshop (the BIG Brother) but was not successful because of its complexity, needed by the professionals. This edition of the Missing Manual "blew my mind". The details and explanations are truly the kind of information anyone who is more serious about photo editing will truly value, like getting an instructor without paying for the actual class. It is truly a GREAT value for anyone who needs down-to-earth detailed information. Plus, the book also offers added files and information on its web pages.

I gave this five stars, and in my opinion it is very deserving of those stars. I can only think that the people who said it was too difficult tried to do things that were beyond what they should have tried. I started at the beginning and have worked my way through it, increasing my skills as I went. I sometimes try to jump ahead and invariably get into trouble. But I go back to my place and work my way forward and all is good. The only suggestion I would have for Ms. Brundage, and it is not enough to take a star away, is that she give a FAR more detailed index. Lots of things that I want to try, and that she explains in the book, are not listed anywhere in the index. That means that I can't jump ahead and try them, but it also means that I can't find them when I need to go back to something and re-read what she said about it. Otherwise, absolutely outstanding instruction...with just a hint of humor.

While I can't address the entire series, I have purchased and used several of them, including the missing manuals for four different versions of Photoshop Elements (PSE).PSE 13 is generally similar at the user interface level to versions going back to PSE 8, and it remains --like its predecessor versions-- extremely feature dense. This makes it both a powerful digital image editor, and a potential deep well of frustration for users. While PSE 13 includes some enhanced automated and guided image editing functions, users hoping to harness its full power will achieve this sooner if they grab some help. Barbara Brundage offers this assistance in a detailed guide that explores the higher functions of PSE, while respecting the challenges many readers may have in grasping complex technology.Brundage offers both conceptual overviews and tutorials of PSE 13's interface, functions and changes since PSE 12. She effectively breaks down the the concepts of file management, basic editing, image manipulation and sharing of the results of these digital editing techniques.This book is particularly effective in addressing the two areas that can lead to delight --or despair-- among would-be photo editors: selection and layering in PSE.The conceptual discussions and tutorials in this book are intelligently discussed and laid out in good detail. A bare bones book with tiny pictures. No new information.

This is an excellent resource for a huge number of plants grown as bonsai. Valuable as a reference book, but could have pictures with finer resolution. The Kindle version allows for enlarging pictures, but they are invariable too fuzzy for a full size iPad screen. I recommend this book.

Selfless and brave, she starts out as the underdog against other competitors willing do do whatever it takes to win. But her pure heart drives her to sacrifice and help which quickly wins her favor with her tutors and infamous heroes from Greek history.This story was beautiful with an inspiring plot where the heroine embarks on an adventure to be come a hero for the human race, champion of the Gods and self-discovery of her true self and greatest strengths. The moment I saw this book I fell in love. It checked all my boxes when I first saw it, with its Greek mythology, its determined, reluctant hero main character, ​and its gorgeous cover. And when my book arrived, the story was wonderful too. It was magical, romantic, dark, depressing, hopeful, and gritty. Hope, the main character, is someone who you'd want to know in real life. She's smart, innovative, and hardworking along with caring, kickass, and interesting. Hope was great, and I really liked her love interest. He was interesting, and as we grew to learn more about him, I loved him a lot. The story's plot, with its contest and trials, was exciting, dark, and gritty, as I mentioned. I really enjoyed it, and I want to read book two as soon as possible (which is unfortunately January 2019, bleh!) 5 stars!

I had the pleasure of reading an early edition of Olympian Challenger, and it pulled me in from the very first page. Arditi's protagonist is likeable and well-rounded, and you root for her instantly. She is a perfect "tour guide" character in this luscious, deadly world, and readers are able to live vicariously through her as she experiences the thrills and dangers of Mount Olympus and the trials endured beneath the watchful eyes of the gods. I was swooning over the romance, and rooting for the wide, lovable cast of characters. There's so much to love, from the detail Arditi pays to the challenges, to the high stakes wins and losses, and the dramatic culmination, which does not disappoint. I'll be eagerly awaiting the next book in this series.

Percy Jackson meets the Hunger Games. I’ve always enjoyed Greek Mythology, but this book far exceeded my expectations. I was enraptured by Hope’s strength of character and her unwavering sense of compassion and heroism towards others. I look forward to seeing where her journey takes her, and I highly recommend this book to others. You won’t regret it.

The problem is, as I see it is that our society and the agencies in charge of this vital role need to be brought up to speed with these excellent and truly caring responses put forward by Lovett. It's simplicity is so frustratingly acknowledge by many carers in today's de-institutionalized settings, where the housing environment has been has changed for the better but little else. However, too often the practices and bureaucratic structures, layer upon layer that have been built smothering agencies, their people and workers which stifles any real progress or opportunity and independence. As a direct support worker now for 15 years I know these approaches work and have employed them in my carer role, which luckily for me came naturally which this book confirmed. The fact that it was not part of my training received for this role and would be uncommon even today's training. This book should be mandatory studying for all direct support workers or even more importantly anybody in the field of disabilities. I would dare to say if you cannot follow the books teachings then you probably should not be in the field of disabilities. This is even more important for the professional and management staff in these areas. I'm continually amazed and disappointed at the recycled tried and failed options and lack of workable ideas continually rehashed by an ever revolving door of young and enthusiastic professional staff straight out of Uni, only to see them disillusioned at the complexities. Also, the continued loss of great direct support staff, smothered by mountains of recordings or so-call monitoring in the guise of accountability, seen only to cover management's inadequacies and selfish fears. As in most endeavors in human behavior, the solutions are usually quite simple, "let people be who they are", if enough people see the solutions and have the will to change attitudes or just be truly educated in values. This book is a giant leap forward in that journey; now let us see how many decades it takes for the rest of us to catch-up.

This is one of the best books I have read on this subject. It deals with ways to resolve behavioral problems with people who have developmental disabilities, and it is wonderfully respectful of people with such limitations. It discusses the pros and cons of the currently favored Applied Behavioral Analysis method, with a good discussion of how the approach can be mishandled even with the best of intentions. Lovett is a very interesting writer - and while this is a great book for professionals to read and consider very seriously, it is equally understandable and reasonable for those of us who have "on the job training" by caring for those with developmental and behavioral problems. It also reminds me of the concept of Gentle Teaching and includes some aspects of that as well. I strongly recommend it.

The author of this book was killed in a car accident and the disabled lost a great voice. Anyone who reads this will come away with a new understanding and more compassion than before. I was given this book by a most wonderful teacher of our 3rd grader with disabilities, and it changed me. It taught me to advocate better and to find my voice on her behalf. This book has to be read by everyone - parent, teacher, friend, administrator - of the cognitively disabled. I would copy pages to take to our IEP meetings and distribute. Sometimes it helped, sometimes it just pointed out those who should not be in the field. I read this book over 15 years ago and still order copies and think about what it taught me.

This is a timeless book that should be required reading for anyone who works with individuals diagnosed with intellectual disabilities.

Once upon a time, a comic artist named Bryan Lee O'Malley did a comic series around a central character named Scott Pilgrim. That comic series got made into a movie called Scott Pilgrim Vs The World. The movie was not bad, but was definitely worth seeing if only because it made me want to read the comic series it was based on. And I'm here now to tell you that O'Malley's original series is awesome. It's also almost impossible to describe, but I'll give it my best shot and say it's original, it's funny, it's way surreal, and it's probably unlike anything you've ever read.On the surface, the plot arc of the six-volume series is centered around Scott Pilgrim, a twenty-something game-playing slacker in a Canadian garage band, who meets the girl of his dreams (literally) and finds he must defeat her seven evil ex-es if he wants to date her. But like an iceberg, the surface only hints at everything that lies beneath.Scott Pilgrim's Finest Hour is the sixth and final volume in the series. The cast of returning characters include:Scott Pilgrim, a wide-eyed and likeable but perpetually clueless 24-year-old slacker whose only real accomplishments to date involved being in a garage band called Sex Bob-omb and defeating six evil ex-es in his quest for Ramona flowers. the book was a great look at humble absurdities centered around melodramatic and eccentric characters.characters were more fascinated by the social choices of one another rather than the fantastical extraordinary things happening around them.bryan lee omalley executed an honest take on social interactions amongst friends that never once seemed forced.you could tell that these interactions were coming from a very earnest place of experience, and would use that grounded reality as a foundation to grow into something more than it originally set out to be. SP even evoked a strange yet nostalgic quality that oddly felt very true to life.a book that focuses on an apparent love for quips and witty banter through character interactionand a uniquely casual take on an absurd world,Scott Pilgrim is a masterpiece in its own right.10/10.lost at sea and seconds sucked.

Bryan O'Malley's run pokes fun at the banalities of life while making you feel like a twenty something kid again. The art is charming and original (even if you read Japanese comics). The diverse cast of characters are unique archetypes that keep you hoping they will come back in every panel. May slightly confuse those unfamiliar with videogame pop-culture, but not enough to distract one from the story. My wife especially loved the interlude short stories. Scott Pilgrim will leave you wishing for more once you've completed this six volume series.

I've recently been loving ebooks and i thought this wasn't gonna be easy to read, being a comicbook and all but I love the Scott Pilgrim Universe sooo, I gave it a try and bought them all (1-6) They are amazing, easy to read the story with this new tool kindle has that let you go scene by scene on the page (don't know how else to describe it).Love. This.Would buy it again.

The illustrations and colors are gorgeous. The story is a modern classic. Boy meets girl. Girls has tons of ex boyfriends to battle. Boy kills all of the ex boyfriends to be with said girl. Delightful art and a fantastic story with really deep characters in that fantastical fairytale land of Canada. One of my all time favorite serials now in full color and hardcover.

You will laugh, you will look in awe at some of the spectacle, and you (maybe) will cry. This review shall not only speak for the final installment of this epic series, but for the epici series it is. The simplest way to summarize the plot is this: Scott Pilgrim must fight Ramona's 7 evil exes to win her over. Many twists and turns run all throughout the series, many encounters, allusions, and cameos appear throughout, and if you were born and raised in the videogame era of 1985ish-1996ish, this series will not only appeal greatest to you, but will also invoke the biggest amount of nostalgia in you. Even if you weren't born in that time, but you still enjoy videogames, you will still appreciate and enjoy this series. Even if it's more or less games, the references to music, movies, and locations should still keep you to read. If not, the visual art style is pretty good, and becomes more defined and such in the later installments. As far as uniqueness, it's well drawn manga, but its somewhat easy to recreate and mock. Its great for fanart and such. I think anyone who wants a good read before or after they see the movie, I recommend. If you think mainstream culture could use a firm kick in the trousers, this series may cater to you. If you've read "Lost at Sea" by Bryan Lee O'Malley, expect something different but awesome too.5/5

Dr. McGee's Thru the Bible Commentaries have been invaluable to my husband and I's study of the Bible. He presents both fundamental truths and underlying themes, as well as information on customs and history of the lands in which the Bible events took place, in clear, easy to understand language. It's like having a very wise, kind and funny grandfather sitting beside you as you study, pointing out things you never saw before. I have learned so much from his commentaries and feel he was inspired by the Holy Spirit in presenting them. Whether you are a new believer or further along in your walk with God, I wholeheartedly recommend J. Vernon McGee's commentaries which give eternal, lofty truths in a very down to earth way.

J. Vernon brings Christ out in the Old Testament and is very biblical based. Some of his examples are best viewed in the time-frame they happened... I don't agree with all he says about the Christian life as shown in church, but his Bible knowledge is very good.

John is a gloriously rich and profound gospel. J. Vernon McGee emphasizes Jesus’s ultimate gift to everyone-eternal fellowship with Him.

I first heard J. Vernon McGee on the radio back in the late 1980's. Every weekday, I'd tune in his "Through the Bible" program and listen to it on my way to work. Mr. McGee had a very basic and grass roots way of explaining things that really helped me understand the Bible better. His books are written the same way. Anyone wanting to study the Bible would benefit using his Through the Bible series as a guide.

This is just one book of the Bible that J.Vernon McGee reads and he was so blessed in his reading and explaining of the the word of GOD. He's what I call a Saint. I almost have all of his books. I am trying to buy them all.. May GOD bless you for reading the word of GOD..
