Olympian Challenger was such a riveting read. This was my first experience with this author and I was in awe of her writing and the imagery her words invoked.Hunger Games meets Percy Jackson, Olympian Challenger follows the story of seventeen-year-old Hope. A kind-hearted and gentle soul, she’s not only a high school student but also caretaker to her ailing mother. After receiving a mysterious invitation in the mail she’s thrust into a competition on Mount Olympus where she knows no one and is armed with just her limited knowledge from the tales of Greek Mythology she’s learned in school and her instincts. Selfless and brave, she starts out as the underdog against other competitors willing do do whatever it takes to win. But her pure heart drives her to sacrifice and help which quickly wins her favor with her tutors and infamous heroes from Greek history.This story was beautiful with an inspiring plot where the heroine embarks on an adventure to be come a hero for the human race, champion of the Gods and self-discovery of her true self and greatest strengths. I look forward to the next installment in this new series and await to learn what’s in store for Hope’s next adventure.
The moment I saw this book I fell in love. It checked all my boxes when I first saw it, with its Greek mythology, its determined, reluctant hero main character, ​and its gorgeous cover. And when my book arrived, the story was wonderful too. It was magical, romantic, dark, depressing, hopeful, and gritty. Hope, the main character, is someone who you'd want to know in real life. She's smart, innovative, and hardworking along with caring, kickass, and interesting. Hope was great, and I really liked her love interest. He was interesting, and as we grew to learn more about him, I loved him a lot. The story's plot, with its contest and trials, was exciting, dark, and gritty, as I mentioned. I really enjoyed it, and I want to read book two as soon as possible (which is unfortunately January 2019, bleh!) 5 stars!
I had the pleasure of reading an early edition of Olympian Challenger, and it pulled me in from the very first page. Arditi's protagonist is likeable and well-rounded, and you root for her instantly. She is a perfect "tour guide" character in this luscious, deadly world, and readers are able to live vicariously through her as she experiences the thrills and dangers of Mount Olympus and the trials endured beneath the watchful eyes of the gods. I was swooning over the romance, and rooting for the wide, lovable cast of characters. There's so much to love, from the detail Arditi pays to the challenges, to the high stakes wins and losses, and the dramatic culmination, which does not disappoint. I'll be eagerly awaiting the next book in this series.
This is a Greek Mythology BEST SELLER!I'm a huge Greek Mythology Fan/Nerd and this book not only has excitement, love, quests it takes Greek mythology to a whol new level. This book will make you want to read faster just to see what happens next.Percy Jackson has nothing on this author! This gave me goosebumps.The story telling was mind blowing. I love how she incorporates all the gods, goddesses and even the 50 Nereids!! I need the 2nd book!
Congrats to the French author Astrid Arditi !Her English vocabulary is perfect and her imagination endless. She gave life again to the Greek Gods in such a descriptive way that you are watching a movie when reading her book. How can you stop in the middle of an action movie ? Here you have it all, Grandiose Decor, Youth, Love, Compassion and Struggle.
Percy Jackson meets the Hunger Games. I’ve always enjoyed Greek Mythology, but this book far exceeded my expectations. I was enraptured by Hope’s strength of character and her unwavering sense of compassion and heroism towards others. I look forward to seeing where her journey takes her, and I highly recommend this book to others. You won’t regret it.
A truly magnificent read. Worthy of the pantheon of the gods. Worthy of every young woman that's unsure of herself and wants to overcome her obstacles.
I chose this book on a whim and am very surprised at how much I enjoyed it. I do recommend it to anyone who likes fantasy mixed with Greek mythology.
