I have been through almost every math curriculum you can think of, nothing was helping as it should have... until I stumbled on this book. The first day in my children are already beginning to understand powers and roots. I love this math book. It has a personal finance section, business finance, using a calculator, surds and everything from kindergarten to high school. This book covers it all, in a clear to understand, step by step sequence. It breaks things down as if the child is being exposed to math for the first time. I'm telling you; you will not be disappointed with this one.

This is one of the best math books ever!!! Not just for kids either. If you're an adult who needs to review or brush-up on your math skills this is a great book for you because it covers many different math topics. I totally hate math but I love this book. I don't have any kids but if I did I would want them to have this book especially for middle school and high school. You should buy this book!!!

My nephew wasn't thrilled when I handed it to him, but having looked through the content myself, I think it's a great book :) It covers all the mathematical concepts and topics that he'll likely need for the next 10 years, all the way through high-school. Based on the generous use of color, and the formatting, it's obviously meant to explain and teach young children. It'll definitely require that an adult help teach the material, because as stated, it covers a lot of topics; but definitely a useful resource.

I work with individuals with disabilities. This book was purchased for one of my adult clients working with a private tutor to improve his remedial skills (Math, English, Social Studies, etc.) He is able to understand the material being discussed in his adult education classes with the help of his book and his private tutor. Tutor was the person who recommended this book for purchase. Client began not knowing basic math and has since moved up to Geometry. Very impressed. Will order for more clients in the future.

I teach 7th grade math and recommend this book to kids as a resource. It's great for the basics. Don't understand base 10? Haven't mastered long division? Fractions make you stabby? This book can help. It also covers some algebra, trig and statistics topics. Overall very good. Nice examples, easy to read.I think it is published in Canada or Britain, so some terminology is different. For example, what we teach as scientific notation is called standard notation in this book.

This guide is presented in a way that is easy for me as a grandmother to understand but more importantly it is easy for my grandson to use.

This book is excellent if you have to play "catch up" on the way math is taught today. I saw this book in a classroom and knew it was a book I needed. I use it often with my own kids and again catching up on the "new" teaching styles

I have no idea how to create a game using Unity and this book helped me nicely. Just what I need to get started with a new project. I wish the book explain a bit in more detail of basic C# coding so I would understand it more when it explain what each line of code does. But anyway, it's not a book about coding after all. I am planing to create one game per month, easiest game moving up to the harder games. This book is my first step, my first game and I am really doing it. It helped me get started the least with lots of useful tips that you wouldn't find in many tutorials. I would recommend this book for all unity beginners who don't even know where to start. I also wish it gave more examples and more projects in the book to try out.

I'm loving this book because it is exactly what I imagined and was looking for. For a small investment of time and money, I'm learning the fundamentals of both layout and programming in Unity.This book compliments another book, entitled Unity in Action, quite nicely. I'm glad I started reading Build Your First Unity Game first because from it I gained some knowledge and confidence that have helped me better understand the content covered by the Unity in Action book.For example, the Unity in Action book expected me to create a scene involving a floor and walls, but did not really explain how. Because I had already started reading DJ Allan's book, however, I was armed with the know how to do this! Not only did DJ Allan's book cover layout fundamentals rather well, it also provides a good crash course into the programming aspect of things, again preparing me further for use with the other book.DJ Allan has an excellent teaching style that assumes only a little computer experience on the part of the student, yet doesn't waste time on the very basics of computer usage. I would recommend this to anyone who has not experienced working with Unity before, and to someone who may need a refresher course or a different perspective and wants to come up to speed quickly.Bravo DJ Allan, bravo!!

This is a handbook for learning practical and effective methods for reprogramming your brain. The author does an excellent job making all the science of the brain (structure and interplay) accessible (though I had to reread some sections a few times). Essentially it is a reconciliation of Buddhist teachings and science in a very profound way.For someone who has an insatiable need to understand how things work (and is therefore a skeptic), this book was more helpful to me than any of the more spiritually focused books have been. Sure, those books gave me the terminology and the practices, but this book gave me the hows and whys. Essentially, it helped me understand and therefore believe. This scientific approach really broke through. It really allowed me to come to an understanding of the mechanics of what was going on inside me when I had an emotional reaction. And, understanding, I could identify what was occurring in the moment (which engaged my prefrontal cortex) which allowed me to become aware of the emotion in question so I could assess it and take steps to counter or discard it as needed.This book has been incredibly helpful and timely for me as I wade through a tough time in life (brain surgery, divorce because I had brain surgery...). It has given me more control over my emotions and my life in a very real way.

I suffered anxiety and mild depression and a PCP gave me antidepressant. After one week taking the pills, I felt emotionally worse and my stomach didn't feel well, so I stopped. My friend who is studying psychology at Vanderbilt told me maybe it's about how you think, and the pills can fix temporarily but negative thinking will bring depression back. Then I read this book and watched Rick Hanson and Daniel Amen's videos on YouTube. This book and talks open a new world to me. My next books were by James Doty, Richard Davidson, and Jon Kabat-Zinn. Now I feel so much better and it feels like the world is so different from it was before this book. The main author of this book is a neuropsychologist by the name of Rick Hanson. Being a brain doctor, he is very well educated on how the systems of the brain work together, along with making connections to the behaviors that humans engage in. This may seem like a typical self-help book as it discusses techniques of mindfulness, relaxation, and tips on overall bettering yourself in order to live a happier and more fulfilled life. However, Hanson goes much further into detail on these qualities. He does this by explaining the facts as to how the mindfulness and relaxation techniques work with regards to our physical neurological systems. He has written several books similar to Buddha’s Brain, has won New York’s Best Selling Author, and offers free positive neuroplasticity programs. This book discusses several simple but meaningful techniques one can use to help promote relaxation as well as awareness. The author explains the process of these techniques by describing what occurs in the brain while one is performing relaxation exercises. He also explains how positive behaviors and actions result from the exercises. Beyond that, he talks about how certain situations affect our arousal. These exercises range from simple breathing techniques to more complex mindfulness practices. The baseline of our peacefulness is guided by our parasympathetic system, which is responsible for producing a balanced state. This is our rest/digest system. There is also the SNS system, responsible for the fight/flight response. Various situations occur in our daily lives that cause us to unleash certain behaviors. Our physical state becomes altered due to certain systems being activated, such as the PNS and SNS. Performing relaxation and meditation techniques helps us reach a more balanced our state. When performing these relaxation and mindfulness techniques, the brain is at rest in a state of tranquility. The brain is complex, filled with many parts that serve different functions. One part of the brain is the pituitary gland which is responsible for producing endorphins, triggering stress hormones, and storing and releasing oxytocin. Oxytocin is the “bonding” or “love” hormone that we humans have. This hormone is the key element of our human nature; it allows us to form bonds and to feel empathy for one another. In relationships, oxytocin encourages eye contact and trust. The release of oxytocin is one way that the brain can be in a peaceful state, therefore causing you to be happy. Contrarily, the amygdala is a section in the brain that is in charge of responses to emotion, fear, and other negative stimuli. It also helps form implicit memories. These memories form primarily from negative experiences due to a defense mechanism that has been used to survive throughout human evolution. Negative experiences needed to be recalled so that we would be ready to fight in dangerous times, such as being preyed upon. This explains why we are quick to react negatively or with hostility. This also explains the origin of anxiety and aggression. Constant feelings of threat lead to feeling anxious and can lead to aggressiveness in order to fight and protect oneself. Without a doubt, we need all systems in the brain, but depending on our upbringing and our environment (nature/nurture), the way we react to certain situations differs among all humans. The happiest state of mind, according to Buddha and Hanson, the author of this book, is a state of equilitry. Neuroplasticity is the key factor here. Our brains are changeable; the number of neurons being fired together cause this mutability. Emotions are not a result of certain situations that occur but a result of the way we interpret the situation and react to it. Therefore, we have the ability to rewire our brains to react to situations mindfully, essentially making us happier in the long run. I was very pleased with the information the author has provided in this book. There are plenty of facts on the brain and its functions, and connections made to the spiritual aspect of the mind. The author describes the main parts of the brain; such as the frontal cortex, the diencephalon, the hippocampus, etc. and makes sure to connect them to the ways our body reacts in certain situations. It is important to elaborate on the functions of the complex brain. There are many self-help books that provide tons of information on mindfulness techniques and living with a happy equilibrium, but these books provide little to no detail as to how exactly this works. Rick Hanson helps readers understand how the brain essentially works as a whole unit and how certain situations impact and alter brain functions, therefore altering how we perceive the world, our moods, reactions, impulsiveness, etc. Someone who has not read the book and is unfamiliar with mindfulness techniques may think that the idea that we can change who we are by changing our brains is silly. But, after reading this book, the idea makes sense. I would definitely recommend this book to everyone, especially those who have an interest in mindfulness meditation so that they can fully understand why and how these systems are working to better their mood and outlook on life. To conclude, I give this book a 5/5 rating. Rick Hanson appears to be a well educated neuropsychologist who is good at sharing his ideas in writing that is also clear and easy to understand. The Mowgli stories are timeless although written in the times of the Raj in India and given absolutely atrocious treatment by Disney ..they are glorious free from any cheap novel sentimentality ,free of the cliches of the Maugham books but are full of delicious english words and phrases.

This is a reprint of the delightful original title published in 1933. It has been retypeset but contains the original illustrations. Macmillian's little pocket sized hardcovers are extremely well made and perfect for carrying in a pocket or handbag.

Excellent listen loved all the sound effects and different voices. Very enjoyable.

This telling is spirited, relaxing, entertaining and everything I could have imagined from a production with Bill Bailey. It’s everything I could have wanted from one of my favorite Kipling stories.

The pages are clean, but old. I love it. The cover is in fair shape, but protects the book. Glad I could support a charity in the process.

Just as I expected

This is a childhood favorite, and for me at least, it stands up quite well. Included here are only the Mowgli stories from The Jungle Book, taking him from his first arrival in the jungle as a toddler nearly killed by the tiger, Shere Khan, through to manhood. Along the way, he has fantastic adventures and learns many life lessons.Kipling was born in India, and later spent years there as a journalist, and he knew the land, its people, and its animals. He was imperialistic and jingoistic, but that mainly affected his poetry, not his fiction, and he was also a close observer and an excellent storyteller. Mowgli has depth and dimension, and grows believably from early childhood to early manhood over the course of these stories.And they are just plain fun to read or listen to. This audiobook presentation is excellent, with the multiple voices adding to the depth and variety of the characters. Well worth listening to, especially if you have children in the right age range.I think this was a free download from Audible, or it may have been a Daily Deal.

I enjoyed volumes 1 and 2 of the Kingdom Hearts manga and Chain of Memories is even better! The story gets more mature and doesn't seem has rushed as the first one. I also like how the manga is not split into multiple volumes.The only complaint is could make is the way this book is read is different than the first two. The KH 1 manga read left to write, but this COM manga reads the traditional right to left. I'd prefer the series be consistent (but this isn't that big of a deal)

This manga not just celebrates the solid RPG Chain of Memories, but it playfully mocks and parodies the series with its own charm. It's both deep and comedic. I absolutely love the artist takes advantage of the manga and draws in the Organization rooms: security TV screens, dart boards, book shelves, and a fried chicken bucket that spoofs KFC. If you want a great manga with laughs and wit, check it out.

I was hesitant at first to purchase the manga. I absolutely love the game; most amazing story ever! I was afraid the manga may be too cartoony or in some way, not be able to convey the story in the same way. But to my delightful surprise, I believe they did a really great job with it! My only gripe is that I wish the action scenes were a little better. In Chain of Memory, they definitely do start getting better in my opinion than the fight scenes in the Kingdom Hearts vol 1 manga, but still could use a little work. Artwork though is top notch and honestly, in spite of whatever few gripes I may have with it, I'd still honestly recommend this to any Kingdom Hearts fan. Especially to someone who wants to know the story but doesn't like our doesn't have time to play the video games.

Not a good substitute for the game, but it's still a fun and enjoyable read. Kinda makes you want to go back and play the game again.

I must agree with the person that admitted that he was a bit disappointed with the first series' books. I was as well and so was my brother, both of us having played Kingdom Hearts all the way through more than once and knowing all the events. It was way too short and exciting things were cut from the manga. However, Kingdom Hearts: Chain of Memories stays true to the game (from what I remember, anyway) and still makes it a fascinating read. It continues the story of Sora - the child given the awesome responsibility of wielding the legendary "Keyblade," an awesome weapon that can wrought both destruction and salvation. I have always like this series, and have played all three games. I can't wait for Kingdom Hearts 2 to be turned into a manga. I hope it will just keep getting better! Oh, and, as a correction, this book's cover is not on backwards by mistake. They decided to stick with the true manga style, which is written right to left, instead of left to right like we're used to in the States. I just wanted to clear that up with the woman that gave this a one-star. Sorry if I offend anyone, but this series deserves a bit more than that.

I love kingdom hearts I just don't read much. I bought this and still haven't read it. But the manga seems well made and shipping time seems fair.
