What seems like a normal power cut turns quickly in a terrifying nightmare. Their whole world spirals out of control and everybody have to count on one another. Danger lurks on every corner and the only option is to bunker down in the farmhouse but the road is long and rocky. I loved the way the characters were brought together, how they live and love under the worst circumstances. This story was utterly intriguing and the lovestories were very passionate. All the elements that make a story outstanding, were present. I'm glad I didn't miss this one and I hope that there will be a sequel very soon.
I really enjoyed the story. There was quite a bit of romance interwoven within the OMG the world is ending scenario. I appreciate that there wasn't a lot of women being victims or violence. Kudos for a well thought​ out fun story with a bit of edge of your seat anxiety.
I thoroughly enjoyed the story from start to finish, including the pacing and nothing lagging in it. A great doomsday sci-fi that included F/F relationships. The four main characters each had distinct personalities and voices throughout the story. And the story totally has all the stereotype lesbian romances covered. lol. One pair are the u-haul lesbians, another pair the slow burn lesbians, and even another that has the "love of my life" is gone romance.I did find trouble with the paragraphs' & sentences' structure. Often times I had to slow down and analyze who was actually speaking, moving around, etc. Sometimes a character's narration overlapped with another character's and it was hard to decipher it. Only tiny letdown (for me) was that by the end of the book, I still had no clue what Lexi, Anna, Jackie, and Taylor looked like. I'm not left with any mental picture of their appearances, except Taylor had muscles and Anna & Lexi had long hair. Even small hints like "Jackie combed her fingers through Taylor's blond hair" would have helped me.Totally recommend this book to anybody. It was a badass story and loved the strong women. I'm definitely stoked for the second book! Hopefully there'll be more in this series as time goes on. Thank you for all the hard work, KC!
It's not so much a doomsday novel as it is a romance. The end of the world scenario provides the backdrop for the story and at least one more follow-on novel. I liked all of the characters of the book and the chemistry was easy to recognize. For a book with four major characters and two relationships, I thought that the author did a great job balancing it all. While I understand there is an additional book to follow - this one ends without a cliff-hanger.
Really liked the primary characters and story. The description of the deterioration of society after the EMP seems to be very realistic for the big cities and cross country travel. However, even with the problems with several characters in Astoria, I find it hard to believe that most people there are coping as well as portrayed. Still the tension and fear experienced by the heroines is all too real
And it is that... One of the best books I've read in a long time. KC suggested this as a starter for me since I hadn't read any of her books before, and I'm so lucky that she did. The beginning I got to learn about each and every characters. The last third I spent in tears. A story I won't be forgetting any time soon.
I'll admit that action/romance is new to me. I have read several lesbian romance novels before but simple romance novels are not my cup of tea. The world ending and then people finding love was a great balance. Action and romance was a great balance. I can't wait for the next installment.
Loved this book and can't wait for the sequel! Loved all the MCs and looking forward to seeing what comes next for them.
