#5,051 Paid in Kindle Store (See Top 100 Paid in Kindle Store)

I love her fiestyness she is living with her grandma and trying to get Intel of the resistance. In this book you see the relationship deepen and so much going on there a traitors all around her she must figure out whats the truth and what is a lie.

Loved the book, thought it was a great next installment in the series, but chapter 22 is in the wrong place. It sucks, because it's a key part of the story and throws off the whole flow of the book. Other than that, it was fantastic!!

Fabulous editing, great writing style, wonderful personification and individualization of the main four without feeling trope-y. Would love to delve more into the angry about his history side with Fenris, Akio’s history, Jae’s childhood. Too much story to come to an end next book.No bias, paid for my ebook fair and square.

Game of Lies sees the return of one of my very favourite heroines. You know how people say that the sequel never lives up to the original? Yeah, this one totally does!Except for that cliffhanger at the end… SADIE!!!!!!!Oh! No, I can’t tell you that!Oh! Yes! No… can’t tell you that either.Oh! Oh! Oh! You have got to read this book because I need to talk to you about it but I don’t want to tell you all the good stuff because you really must read the first book and then this second gem to truly appreciate everything that is Lana and her balancing band of men.Man, when I grow up I want to be like Lana Crow. She is, as they used to say in the old days, “A stand-up gal!” I like her so much and I respect her character so much as well.Let me try and do this book justice with my puny little review.Lana returns to us having done a 0-60 from the backstreets to the boardrooms of Government. But the fighting that Lana is used to, isn’t going to do her a whole lot of good in this new world of politics and dastardly intrigues, is it? Well, maybe she’ll get to land a couple of punches to take that edge off! Politics is a dirty game after all and our girl has never been afraid to get her hands dirty for the right reasons. The trouble is that she’s still trying to figure out who is really on the side of good. For someone as up front and to the point as Lana is, this spying and acting out a role doesn’t come easy.Lana’s magic is going nutsicles and the bond with her men (every time she calls them “my men” I get a little tingle) because she’s been living separately from them, having discovered the existence of her long-lost Grandmother (this is a little spoiler but think big picture okay?). A Grandmother who happens to be a pretty bigshot in the world of Gifted Government – so now Lana has the desire to get to know her Grandmother and more about the family she can’t really remember BUT also the fear that sweet Grandmama is dodgy as hell and one of the people intentionally making the Blighted’s lives completely miserable WHILE keeping a few of her own secrets too. This Grandma doesn’t exactly bake cookies (She’s not really on speaking terms with her kitchen) but for Lana’s sake you really hope she’s not a megalomaniacal tyrant. In spite of the initial strain, Lana and her guys manage to use time in this book to add more layers of depth to their relationship as a group and to their individual relationships and the connections between them only gains strength and traction as they grow together. There are so many great parts to this story: the growing closeness between the 5 that is clearly not just the result of a magical bond, the building of positive relationships with old and new friends despite the darkness and peril all around and of course, the very essence of this journey: the fighting of the good fight to see the victory of good over evil. There are also so many sad and hurtful parts which is to be expected when the power over many lies in the hands of the few. Magic aside, the fight for equality in the face of prejudice, intolerance and segregation with the mindset that people are better or worse than each other simply because of their differences is an age-old battle that is constantly fought world-wide. In this case, our heroes are in the thick of things, at the front-lines, and the battles and the betrayals cut sharp and deep in this second installment. And then there was the damn cliffhanger… SAAAADDDDDIIIIIEEEEEE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The answer to that, in my opinion, will always be nobody but yourself. Lana has to navigate a world she doesn't understand. I'm not talking about the world of magic, although that is also still pretty new to her. I'm talking about the world of lies, half truths, favors and corruption. That's right. The world of politics. The place where your enemy smiles at you and allies threaten your back. Lana experiences some loss this go round as well as some gains. How does a mercenary transform herself into a politician? This book was well done. The plot line was clear. The editing well done. The continuity was there. (I hate books with continuity issues.) The world building got a little more depth, as did some of the characters. We are being slowly let in to the guys stories, walking along with Lana in her own learning.I would recommend this book and will continue with the series.

I continue to love, love this urban fantasy reverse harem series that follows Lana and her four sexy men on their battle against the corrupt members of the Gifted. You definitely need to read the first book, Bound By Magic, before you do this one. There is a prequel (Kissed by Shadows) that gives some history on Lana (and Corin) and though that doesn't have to be read before the others I was happy that I had read it first.I can't really comment specifically about the things I loved in this second book of the series without spoilers so I will just say it continues the action, magic, intrigue and romance (things heat up a bit in this second book). The writing continues to be top-notch and at the end there is a note saying the last book will be out in November. I can't wait!4.5 Stars

I really enjoyed this second book in the Magic Awakening Series. Lana is trying to get to know her new found grandmother and learn as much as she can about the politics to give to the resistance. However; things aren't always as they seem and the nicest of people can't always be trusted. Her relationship with her guys is growing and she is realizing how much she needs them and they her. I love Lana's character. She doesn't give up but keeps fighting for what she believes even as her beliefs are changing. The cliffhanger is killing me and I am looking forward to the next book.

Game of Lies kicks up the heat and the thrills! What's a newly Gifted to do when she's thrust into a world of peril and politics that she can only hope she understands before it consumes her and everything she's finally allowed herself to care for? Rely on the four pieces of her soul of course! But, deception can be much stronger and love may not be enough to save her or anyone for that matter. Be aware, this cliff hanger is the sweetest of tortures!I received a complimentary copy of the book from the author for review consideration.
