I bought this book to use with 2-3 year olds as an introduction to body parts and their names. In some ways the book is a bit too advanced for the age group, but in many ways it does meet our needs better than other board books that I have seen.Pros:1. Real photos.2. Board book with lots of pages.3. Instantly engaged and interested my 17 month old son - he flipped through it multiple times in one day and paused very contemplatively when looking into babies' faces.4. For the most part, the pages are devoid of background or scenes so the animals themselves can be clearly seen.5. Perfect size for my toddler's little hands.6. Includes a lot more topics than expected: emotions, actions, senses, dressing for the seasons, counting, daily activities, etc.Cons:1. The "line to vocab word" format does not seem to translate well for toddlers or babies. I don't think they get that it is pointing to something.2. No hazel eyes represented.3. Dark hair = photo of medium brown hair?4. Light hair and straight hair both with image of blondish hair - should have used an Asian girl for straight hair instead for diversity .5. Not convinced the baby facial expressions match their label - surprised and tired seemed flip-flopped.Overall, I like the book and so does my son. Sure it could be improved upon, but it is the best I have found in a board book.
Great book for a toddler learning his/her body parts! I really love that this book uses real babies and real pictures to depict common body parts and actions. There is a lot to learn from this little book (body parts, hair colors, eye colors, common actions, and even clothing). The authors use real babies from different races and backgrounds -- I love that! This is much more realistic and educational than a cartoonish book. I HIGHLY recommend adding this to your child's library. I find that many board books are so similar in message and tone and this book actually teaches him things that are not in other books.
Purchased for my 16m old. Easy to follow and seems age appropriate for things she can actually access/understand. Grows with her as well. We had an earlier edition from the library that she initially fell in love with, and the updates are excellent in terms of accessibility. 4 stars because it could be more diverse.
Perfect for a 1-2 year old who wants to look at pictures of real babies doing real baby activities. A great first word book for learning body parts and emotions, food, clothes, etc.. Simple images on white backgrounds.
My 1 year old loves this book. Pictures are real and depict things he sees day to day, so he can relate to it and recognize/name pictures. There are many pages and I see him getting a lot out of it as he gets older.
I love what this book covers but I do agree it seem a little too much for some kids. I bought it to go over the basic body parts and as my son gets older I go into more detail with the book. Also the size is perfect to fit into my purse with my other junk. 😂
The photos are great, the colors are bold. I only wish it was dual language Eng/Spanish.
My daughter loves babies, so this book is a favorite. Lots to point out. She will find this book even if we hide it.
